Quit
This command will remove your character from the game world. For most, it can only be used in rooms that are 'safe.' Inns, taverns, apartments, houses, and so on, are considered safe places to stay, and you can quit freely in these places, keeping all of your items.
The only other way to leave the world is to drop your link--whereupon your character will remain exactly where he/she is until you reconnect. There is no guarantee that your character will remain alive or unmolested during that time. Quitting in a safe room will automatically save your character, save his or her equipment, and take you to the main menu.
Rangers can quit in the wilds--to see if you have found a suitable place to make camp, type "quit test". Non-rangers can use "quit test" to determine if they are in a safe room.
Syntax:
quit
quit test
quit die
Example:
> quit
Notes:
You will not be able to quit if your character was recently involved in combat. This is to prevent people from getting into a fight and then quitting as a means of escaping the consequences of their characters' actions. If you find that you cannot quit because "you are too excited to leave" then you will need to wait a while before trying again.
If your character is mounted when he/she quits, then the mount will be saved as well, but the next time you log on, your character will be mounted on his/her mount and the mount will be unhitched.
If your character has a mount hitched to him/her when you quit, and the mount is in the same room at the time, then the mount will be saved, and the next time you log on, you will find your character's mount standing next to him/her and hitched as well.
Inside outposts, villages, towns, and cities, standard practice is to store your character's mount in a stable before quitting.
If you quit while your character is at negative hit points, the character will die. Note that as a safety feature, you must type 'quit die'. You will receive a warning and instructions if you just type 'quit' or 'quit test'
