Storage

You may request the retirement your character at any time by submitting

a request at http://www.armageddon.org/request. Choose Character Related,
and then Storage. Choose the clan your character is associated with, if
any and then fill out your reason why you want to be stored.

If boredom, real life or other extenuating circumstances set in, you may request that your character be stored. If you are a member of a clan, please notify the clan staff of your plans to do this, so that a suitable IC reason for your death may be worked out. You may collaborate with the clan staff on the details of your demise as well, if the staff member agrees to it. If your character is important to a number of storylines, we may choose to make the character an NPC.

Please note:

If you store a character, you cannot bring the character back at a later date. There are very few exceptions to this rule, such as running a role specifically for a plotline, and in all cases such exceptions must be negotiated before the character is stored.

Reasons which have been accepted in the past for storage, and why we feel they are not workable:

  1. Putting a character in storage to go play in another clan or area of the mud. Situations in the past have testified to the fact that this practice breaks the continuity of plotlines and disrupts relationships. In many ways, it cheats the other characters involved in various ways with your character of that interaction, and requires them to play around that vacuum in a way that is not fair to them, particularly if the character is stored without notification. Characters retired for this reason will not be unstored.
  2. Needing a 'break' from the character. See the above note. If you need a break, retire your character and come back as someone new and different. Characters retired for this reason will not be unstored.
  3. Not playing for a while. Your character ages, whether or not they are in storage. There is no appreciable difference for a stored character and one that is not played, other than your needing to notify the account upon return in order to to have the character unstored. The only exception might occur if the clan staff member notices that you haven't been playing for a while and wants to make sure you check with them to get caught up on plotlines and developments before starting to play again. In this case, you will be notified, using the email on your account, before the character is stored. Characters retired for this reason will not be unstored.
  4. The character is boring you. If the level/excitement of your roleplay lessens (and we take no responsibility for this, since players have repeatedly indicated that they prefer to drive plotlines themselves) and you feel little can be done about it, either through character development or working on quests, retire your character and come back fresh. Feel free to mail the account at any time about ways to improve the situation. Characters retired for this reason will not be unstored.
