If you're coming to Armageddon from other games, some things may seem new, strange,
even frightening to you. Here's some suggestions, based on your previous environs.
- Hack and Slash: Forget everything you know. Well, not really. If you're
used to a DIKU, many of the basic commands are still the same. However, the emphasis
here is on roleplay, not levelling. Focusing on improving your character's skills
is not a good thing; skills should develop over the course of play and be accompanied
by roleplay. It's strongly suggested you read the helpfile:
ROLEPLAYING.
- Graphical MUDs: We don't have pictures, other than what's on the website
and the mantis head accompanying the log-in screen. We don't have color at all, in
fact. We do offer the ability to write your character's story, actions and words in
a much more nuanced, subtle and versatile way than you'll be able to find in those
other games.
- MUSHes: We have much in common with MUSHes, but there are some important
distinctions. We have provided a document to help you adjust here.
- Tabletop roleplaying: You'll fit right in, once you learn the commands. If
you're new to all this, you might want to look here, which
spells out some of the basics of MUDs.
