Helper Guidelines
-Back to the Introductory Information

If you are a helper and your information is out of date (e.g. you no longer wish to be listed, your contact details have changed, or you will be unavailable for a week or two), send e-mail to helpers@armageddon.org with the information.

Helpers must copy the helpers account (e-mail above) on replies to players and try to answer them within 48 hours. This includes logs of IM conversations.

If you would like to be listed as a helper, send e-mail to the helpers account. We prefer that helpers have at least one year experience with the game. Please include the following specifics:

  • Account Name:
  • Contact Info:
E-mail (where you want to receive help requests, needn't be your home e-mail) AIM, Y!IM, MSN, IQC, GoogleTalk Contact Information, if any.
  • GDB Account Name -- a GDB account is required. (this is the name that will be listed on the helpers page).
  • A synopsis of what you feel your areas of expertise are, in as few words as possible (this is the same as one of the questions below, but in digest form.)
Also, please provide considered answers to the following questions (grammar, spelling, clarity, and reasoning count):
  1. Which starting race(s) would you recommend to a new player, and why?
  2. Which starting guild(s) would you recommend to a new player, and why?
  3. Which starting city would you recommend to a new player, and why?
  4. How would you deal with a player soliciting information that you're not sure is too IC?
  5. What pieces or systems in the game are you comfortable or specifically interested in helping guide new players with?
  6. What are your favorite/least favorite documents to point new players to on the website or in-game, and why?
  7. What qualifies you to work as a Helper, and why do you want to do it?
Please use your very best spelling and grammar and try to format your replies readably.

If a question arises often, please let us know so we can try to address it in the documentation or code.

Helpers are required to maintain confidentiality and to uphold the good reputation of the game and the staff. Please act appropriately when representing the game. This includes posts in public forums that identify you as a helper, such as the GDB. Information gained through acting as a newbie helper should be treated accordingly and not used to advance your character. Similarly, please do not use your status as a newbie helper to recruit players for your clan.

Keep the information you provide confined to the OOC aspects of the game and its interface, (i.e. tell them how to use the brew command, but let them discover the results of various combinations IC).

If you are not available, please let us know as soon as possible so we can update the helpers page.
