Inns, Taverns, and the Fine Art of Emoting
In Allanak, there's several inns and taverns, which serve as places where people congregate. The inns are where business negotiations are made, nefarious plots are hatched, seductions are conducted (or attempted, at any rate) and a myriad of storylines come together. The main inns in Allanak are:

The Trader's Inn: Usually the upper crust, the nobility, the templars, and the more successful merchants are found here. Indeed, the inn's proprietor, Ranlish, has hired a bouncer who keeps out the dirtier of the city's inhabitants, as well as elves. Ranlish has a back room, which he rents out (the syntax is 'rent', which by itself, will get you into the back room -- if you want to take someone in there with you, type 'rent (name of first person you want to take in with you) (name of second person) etc.') - for a small fee. Some people sleep (choose to quit out) in the rooms above the main room, which is more expensive, but less prone to vermin, than other inns. The Trader's is located on the eastern side of Meleth's Circle.
The Gaj and Gladiator: The Gaj is a favorite hang out of hunters, mercenaries, and the Tzai Byn. The food and drink is considerably cheaper here, and the owner, Vennant, has provided roasting pits where people may cook their own food. Like the Trader's, the Gaj has a rentable room for private discussions, and provides a dormitory where people may sleep. This inn is located along Caravan Road, near the Main Gate.
The Bard's Barrel: A little less rowdy than the Gaj, the Bard's Barrel is run by Taravin, and provides food and drink at a reasonable price. For the cost of the ale, one also may listen to music (type 'list songs' to see the possibilities and 'buy song (number)' to hear one.) The Bard's does not have a rentable room, but it does have a casino, the Golden Nugget, upstairs. The Bard's Barrel can be found in the Commoner's Quarter, on the southwest edge of the plaza formed by the intersection of Commoner's Way and Stonecarver's Road.
Some inn basics: type 'list' to see the menu, and 'buy (item number or name)' to purchase your food or drink. To see what seats are available, type 'look tables' and then 'sit at (number of the table you want)' to sit at one. To speak so only the people at your table can hear you, use the talk command.
If you are new to Armageddon, time spent sitting in the inns is valuable. It gives you a chance to see other players in action, particularly with the emote command. Emote are what add atmosphere and nuance to interactions, and while they are not the only way to roleplay, they do enhance the enjoyment of the game for yourself and other players. Here, for example, is the same possible inn encounter, the first making no use of the emote code while the second employs it:
The gaunt, handsome elf enters from the north.
The gaunt, handsome elf looks at the short stocky dwarf.
The short, stocky dwarf looks at the gaunt, handsome elf.
The thin, grey-eyed woman looks at the gaunt, handsome elf.
The thin, grey-eyed woman says to the gaunt, handsome elf, in sirihish:
"Heya, Lorial, c'mere."
The gaunt, handsome elf nods. The gaunt, handsome elf enters from the north, slipping in noiselessly from the busy street.
The gaunt, handsome elf looks at the short, stocky dwarf as his gaze passes over the interior of the noisy, busy inn.
The short, stocky dwarf looks at the gaunt, handsome elf with a quick, suspicious glance, his hand patting his belt-pouch.
The thin, grey-eyed woman looks at the gaunt, handsome elf with a faint smile, curling a long finger at him in a beckoning gesture.
Pitching her voice to be heard over the din of talk and drink, the thin, grey-eyed woman says to the gaunt, handsome elf, in sirihish:
"Heya, Lorial, c'mere."
The gaunt, handsome elf nods, smiling slightly as he moves over towards the small cylini table where the thin, grey-eyed woman sits.
Emotes can be attached to all sorts of actions: movement, sitting, standing, sitting, saying, whispering, singing, talking, looking, etc. Your best friend here is the EMOTE helpfile. Spend some of your inn time looking through it and watching how others use it.
